Friday, November 19th at 6 PM; Saturday, November 20th at 10 am; and Sunday, November 21st at 12 Noon
Friday's sale will feature Photographica, cameras, images, & historic ephemera; Saturday's sale will feature planes and aviation items, ship models, gas-powered racers, automobilia, antique advertising, and a large array of antique and collectible toys of all kinds; Sunday's sale will feature a large collection of model trains, including Lionel, American Flyer, live steam, MTH, train accessories and much more!
Friday evening's auction will include several large collections of photographic related items and collectibles. Cameras include several Leicas, Roloflex, lenses, and many other early and collectible cameras. The sale also includes unusual stereo-card viewers, images, daguereotypes, photographic related collectibles, and many-many books relating to photography.
The sale includes cameras and images from the estate of the late Tom Clark, a much beloved photographer from the Frederick area. The sale also features photographs and images belonging to Tom Clark's father, Life Magazine photographer, Edward Clark, who's lens captured presidents and celebrities alike.
A fascinating collection of Antarctic Exploration books, images, ephemera, and artifacts will also be included in this auction, hailing from the estate of Richard Conger who was a Naval photographer for Admiral Byrd's Antarctic expeditions. For those of you who are photography collectors and enthusiasts, history buffs, and anyone who enjoys fine photography, this is an auction not to miss.
Saturday and Sunday's auction features all things relating to transportation. Most notably, there is a large selection of early gas-powered racers including Dooling, Syncro, and others. There will be many other race car toys, automotive toys, automobilia including hood ornaments and similar collectibles. A large group of over 50 highly detailed ship models will also be featured in the sale, including masted vessels, steamships, riverboats and many other large, museum quality ships.
It wouldn't be an Old Town Auction without a large selection of antique and collectible toys! This sale is no different, featuring a large selection of Black Americana toys, including a boxed Hey-Hey Chicken Snatcher, Alabama Coon Jigger, and many other jigger toys. The sale will also include battery ops, wind-ups, German tin, tin litho, and many other toys. A fabulous boxed example of the largest Britains Coronation set ever made will be another highlight of this eclectic group of toys. The sale also includes a rare pair of store display large-scale Skookums.
We are pleased to offer several original works of art by renowned outsider-artist Steve Heller. His incontrovertible flair for creating artwork from found objects, including antique car parts and household items is beyond belief. We are lucky to have a large-scale light-up rocket ship as well as a rocket inspired floor lamp, and maybe more!
Antique advertising and country store items are also a large part of the weekend's event. Notably, there is a rare Moxie die-cut as well as other beverage advertising including Coca-Cola items, root beer advertising and other pieces. A nice selection of country store display cases will be featured in this auction, including an unusual pair of Art Deco cases.
Coming around the bend, this auction features a large selection of model trains. Many different manufactures will be represented, including Lionel, American Flyer and others. There is a substantial number of MTH trains, many in original boxes. There are signals, lights, accessories, stations, and many other model train items.
